What do I need to wear and bring to my first kickboxing lesson?
All you need is some comfortable clothes to train in – Jogging bottoms and t-shirt is fine. A bottle of water and a towel is optional.
I have no martial arts experience, is this a problem?
Absolutely not. Our kickboxing classes are ideal for beginners. We start you off slowly teaching you the basic techniques. As your experience grows we show your more difficult techniques.
Do I have to spar (fight)?
No. Sparing is completely optional and we never put pressure on students to fight if they do not feel comfortable doing so. If you do wish to spar, you can start at a level which suits you.
Do I have to book for my free taster session?
No. You are welcome to just turn up on the night at your local venue. Our training sessions are available 5 days a week all across Leicester.
Does the PKA have a uniform?
Yes. A free uniform is provided as part of the membership fee. The uniform includes the PKA t-shirt and trousers.
What kickboxing kit is needed?
The basic kit needed for kickboxing classes includes; boxing gloves, shin guards and kick boots.
If you wish to participate in sparing you will also need; a gum shield, head guard and groin guard (for men) or chest guard (for women). Speak to an instructor if you wish to purchase approved PKA kit.
Will I be Insured whilst training?
Yes. All members of the PKA will be covered. Don’t worry – injury insurance is a legal requirement, however, all training sessions are safe and run by our professional team. Martial arts are a contact sport but injuries at our classes are extremely rare.
Can I do competitive sparing/fighting?
Yes, absolutely. If you wish to spar and participate in competitive fights, we regularly enter students in matches throughout the UK. Speak to head coach Steve for full details.
