Our Leicester PKA kickboxing classes focus student training on improving fitness. This is achieved through:

- Sparing – one of the best work outs possible is a 2-3 minute round in a boxing ring
- Interval training – sessions of slow and then fast exercises designed to keep your heart rate high
We also encourage all our students to take part in exercises out side of our classes. This includes; running, swimming, gym work and cycling.

A weak cardiovascular system can result in shortness of breath, weakness, fatigue, and in severe cases can even cause a heart attack. The cardiovascular system is composed of your heart, as well as the veins and arteries that transport blood. Research has found that the best way to improve your cardiovascular is by regularly taking part in activities which make the heart work at a fast pace. Our one hour classes is an ideal way to improve your cardiovascular health.
Get Fit and Feel Happy
Researchers have found that regular exercise such as martial arts like kickboxing is one of the best ways to improve your mood. This is achieved by relieving stress and frustration which can help to make you feel happier. The endorphins released by the exercise stay in your body for up to four hours after exercise.
Improved Muscle Mass and Tone
Martial art exercises can improve the amount of muscle mass your body contains. The more muscle you have, the more toned your body will look. The higher your muscle mass, the higher your metabolic demands will be, and subsequently the more calories you will burn each day, thereby helping prevent obesity and even leading to potential weight loss. High levels of muscle mass also lead to increased agility, thereby preventing falls as you age.
To be good a sparing in martial arts you need to have fast reflexes. By joining a martial arts class you not only improve your reflexes while performing the activity, but actually experience faster reaction times during all activities of your life.
